Rick French : I've listened to all of your podcasts and you mentioned a couple of times about building a bench. You're considering something fancy but I recommend against that for now. Build one you can use without a lot of expense. Use it and figure out what you will ultimately want in a bench. I built the one in Fine Woodworking issue 223 by Bob Van Dyke. I love it. If you send me an e-mail I can send you some pictures. The whole thing cost me less than $300, and it is a dream. I can offer some suggested changes,too. Man, this thing is solid and does everything I need. when you eventually settle down somewhere and build your ultimate bench, this one can be an extra one or an assembly table. Spend your time building furniture for now and not benches.
